About Addiction

Addiction to drugs is a strong force. It damages relationships, and professions, and all too frequently, it may be fatal. However, despite all the negative effects, most drug addicts find it impossible to stop using on their own. This is due to the fact that conquering addiction is much more difficult than simply saying no.
When you inject, consume, smoke, or inhale a drug for the first time, it has a major influence on your brain. Full-blown addiction, however, does not appear suddenly. It develops gradually in three steps.

The reward center of your brain receives a small dopamine boost whenever you consume delectable cuisine, enjoy pleasant music, or communicate with pals. Dopamine is sometimes referred to as a "feel-good" molecule since it makes you feel good. Our brain gains the ability to repeat actions that are good for our health in this way.

Dopamine is sometimes referred to as a "feel-good" molecule since it makes you feel good. Our brain gains the ability to repeat actions that are good for our health in this way.

The issue is that medicines significantly increase the amount of dopamine released compared to other activities. The euphoria you experience after taking a narcotic hit is actually dopamine flooding your brain's reward region. But as that rush wears off, you start to crave it constantly.

If you take drugs over time, your brain will eventually start to lose some of its dopamine receptors to offset the high levels of the chemical, which changes the way your brain is wired. You now require bigger doses of the same medicine to provide the same euphoric effects since your dopamine sensitivity has decreased. Tolerance to drugs grows in this way.

The ability to make decisions, exercise judgment, and recall information are all impaired by alterations to the brain's chemistry and circuitry. Because of this, you can begin using more of various, riskier drugs, and your addiction keeps getting worse.

Stories Of Our Clients...

Gina

Spenser

Spenser

“I was in active addiction since I was 13. I started doing heroin and continued using it until I was 33. Thank God for my family. One of the things that break my heart is that I was not always there for my family as much as I feel I should have been. I was really being driven by addiction. They supported me through my entire journey... Well, I had some sessions with CRISIS RECOVERY SERVICES, and gradually,  started living out of my addiction.

Now, I’m going to college to get my associate’s degree in social work."

Spenser

I wish I had some story to tell you about my horrible, abusive, and neglected childhood. But I don’t. I came from a normal family. We literally had a white picket fence.

My alcohol use started affecting my everyday life. It hindered me from doing the things I loved, it certainly damaged the relationships I had with loved ones. I became depressed,  My University asked me to leave and everything came to a halt. It was the catalyst that led me to surrender.   I decided to find a therapist for the treatment...I FOUND CRS  AND I GAVE THEM A TRIAL...Now, The challenge for me now is not to fight urges to drink, but to stay passionate about recovery and excited about  Spirituality.

Marcia

Spenser

Marcia

With the help of the Oriana House, Marcia is happy, healthy and most importantly, has the proper tools to stay sober. She now devotes her time and energy to helping others with their addictions.
